From Physics to Pixels — My Accidental Love Affair with Design

Once upon a time (in Kolkata), I was knee-deep in physics equations, thinking I’d be solving the mysteries of the universe. Spoiler: I still do—but now it’s in the form of pixels, color palettes, and the perfect line height.

Hi, I’m Debasri Dasgupta—a UI/UX designer and front-end developer based in the Netherlands who believes great design can both look beautiful and work beautifully. I didn’t start in this world with a mouse in hand and wireframes in mind. In fact, I was once a teacher, an insurance SME, and even ran back-office systems before I realized my true creative calling involved a lot more layers (Photoshop and life, really).

 From Curiosity to Code

My journey into design wasn’t planned. It began with a stubborn desire to make websites look better—which turned into a deep dive into HTML, CSS, React, and tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and WordPress. Fast-forward a few years (and quite a few coffee-fueled nights), and I now help clients turn vague ideas into scroll-stopping visuals.

Logos? I’ve created them.
Flyers? Designed, printed, and made people ask, “Who did this?”
UI dashboards? You bet—with data flowing smoother than a shampoo commercial.

Things I’ve Done (That I’m Kinda Proud Of)

  • Designed UX interfaces for maritime research dashboards. Yes, boats need good design too.

  • Rebranded cultural portals like EUscreen with full product design and dev handoff.

  • Created WordPress and Shopify sites that don’t just look good—they convert.

  • Developed React apps with Redux-Saga like a dev who also cares about color contrast.

What I Bring to the Table (Besides Snacks)

I bridge the gap between design and code, speak both client and developer fluently, and actually like feedback (just maybe not at 11 PM 😄). I believe empathy builds great products—and great relationships.

Whether you're looking for a bold brand identity, a sleek UI, or just someone who won’t run away when you say “Can we try one more version?”, I’m here to help.
